2013 Fall Season President's Message

The 2013 fall soccer season is upon us and I’m very excited to report the growth EEFC has experienced and the progress it has made.  Ever since becoming the president of EEFC my goal has been to further the consistent development of our players and surround them with the right leadership and training to provide the optimal learning experience.  Through our partnerships with the local Town programs and surrounding Clubs we have been able to attract a larger player pool and our retention of players has been excellent.  We now have over 200 players in our in-house developmental program this fall in addition to a boy and a girl travel team in each age group from U8 to U12.  I’m pleased to announce that this fall we are offering a new Happy Feet program that will provide a fun first time exposure to the game of soccer for pre-school age players.  It’s hard to believe that just a few years ago we didn’t even have any girl teams and we struggled at every age to interest enough players who wanted to play year round and form competitive travel teams.  I contribute this success to the hard work of all our team parent volunteers, board members and coaches.  It is because of their dedication and belief in the philosophy of player development that our membership continues to swell.  I’m also pleased to report that our relationship with the Riverhead Central School District has also continued to flourish and we were able to get a school board resolution passed early this summer that gives EEFC exclusivity to the fields at Riley Avenue School.  We are very excited to call this our official home and with the recent construction improvements to the parking lot and fencing we will be able to improve and protect this major asset in our soccer community.  The RCSD has permitted us to use our light towers at Riley as we start to lose daylight in fall and we are currently working diligently with the RCSD and the local EEFC community on an overall field irrigation project.  Please look for additional information in the upcoming weeks but the first phase has been completed.  We are planning two club wide fundraisers this fall for the irrigation project and are continuing to look for both private and public donations.   One of the fundraisers will be the selling of custom made Adidas EEFC scarves to all our members and supporters and the other is a potential fall event at a local golf course.  If you would like to volunteer in these efforts please do not hesitate to reach out to us. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all the new players, parents and volunteers this fall season and also let the EEFC community know that if anyone would like to become more involved we are looking to fill two (2) vacancies this fall on our board.  We also can always use assistance with field set up and maintenance and we plan to work on the Riley fields this Thursday and Friday evenings and possibly even Saturday morning if needed.  Please let us know if you can come down and lend a hand. That’s it for now but please don’t forget to visit our online club store to see all our new spirit wear offerings as well as our website, Facebook page and our club calendar as we are constantly updating the content.  I’ll see you on the fields and looking forward to another fun and successful season. -Ron
